Featured Quote by Henry David Thoreau

30 04 2008

We bless and curse ourselves. Some dreams are divine, as well as some waking thoughts. Donne sings of one “Who dreamt devoutlier than most use to pray.” Dreams are the touchstones of our characters. We are scarcely less afflicted when we remember some unworthiness in our conduct in a dream, than if it had been actual, and the intensity of our grief, which is our atonement, measures inversely the degree by which this is separated from an actual unworthiness. For in dreams we but act a part which must have been learned and rehearsed in our waking hours, and no doubt could discover some waking consent thereto. If this meanness has not its foundation in us, why are we grieved at it? In dreams we see ourselves naked and acting out our real characters, even more clearly than we see others awake. But an unwavering and commanding virtue would compel even its most fantastic and faintest dreams to respect its ever wakeful authority; as we are accustomed to say carelessly, we should never have dreamed of such a thing. Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. - Henry David Thoreau, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers

What Is Art To You?

30 04 2008

What Is Art To You?

To me I see art as the expression of things that you feel yet you cannot see or things that you feel but aren’t able to express in words. Art is my outlet, it’s what makes me who I am. Sometimes I just wake up with the weight of the world on my shoulders and the way I feel is something that I can’t get down into words. That is when I grab my paint brush and the colors express it for me. It comes straight from my mind so smoothly and it slowly appears on my canvas speaking in silent words. Art is also my escape. A lot of times I can’t comprehend why things happen in this world, or why people do things, or say things. My life gets stressful from the constant “every day life.” That is when I must sit and write to just simply enjoy life in my head and relax as the world quiets and all I hear is my subconscious mind.

Art is my life, it’s the air I breathe. It’s in the sounds I hear, my beliefs, my family. It’s in the music I love and make. Art is me. I express all I see, feel, experience, understand. It’s my hates and loves. I see it as my life support, what I need to live. I turn my life sorrows and pain into my art, my negativities feed my souls fire. I am not in your head, I am only in mine. But I do know that we all come together on this website because we understand that one word…Art. My Big Question, WHAT IS ART TO YOU?

The Unique World of Intrinsic Expression: A Letter from the owner G.Cornwall

29 04 2008

A letter from the owner: Gene marie

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by this page, and supporting the website. We are getting ready for our relaunch and our fresh new 2007 year! It’s March and we’re ready to inspire, create, and change this world!

I woke up today, a normal day but I began to be reminded of why I started Intrinsic Expression. As you are aware we all have our talents, and we all choose how we want to use our talents. Some use it wisely, others not so wisely. I realize that there are less students who have someone to support them when they have a mind of an artists. There are less classes for them to take in school and it is hard when so many tell you that you can’t make money as a photographer, as an artist or you simply wont’ make it in the music business. Sometimes we get pulled in the wrong direction trying to prove something rather than change something.

However, I and many others on Intrinsic choose to use there talents for a good influence, and I am looking forward to unite with all of you to be a strong and powerful force of change, inspiration and creation. I have been searching for a lot of musicians, and writers, film makers, and artists that reflect such beauty and talent that I know is scattered through out the whole world. I am proud to say I have met, so many inspirational artists of all shades and hues. I have met many like myself knowing that we are all meant for something greater. I hope to meet more of you, and if that is you please feel free to contact me. The website will be up in running again very soon! I look forward to playing your music, supporting you and your work.

We are looking to start new ways to raise money for all of you, while expressing the world of the artists! If you’re interested in planning an event and interested in performing for an event please contact me as well! If you’re interested in collaboration show…wonderful email me. Gene at genemarie@canada.com

Thank you.

We are working on posting all the information on this blog, however while you wait for all of this to fill up, please visit us at http://www.myspace.com/intrinsicexpression and http://www.intrinsicexpression.blogspot.com, we are also on facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=743406220

INTRINSIC:
What does it mean? It is the value that we all have that we feel that we do no have so early in our life, as struggles hammer us down and pain eats us up inside and confusion takes over our minds. Intrinsic…it is the value of each one of us that can’t be expressed with a number, weight or dollar sign. Intrinsic Expression is what we all express simply by being ourselves. We all may not paint like Picasso or write like John Keats, but even if we pick up a paint brush or write a few words down on paper it is how we feel, what we felt in that moment and that is art OUR INTRINSIC EXPRESSION.

WHAT WE DO
We highlight the works of unknown artists and join forces, using our photography, paintings, poetry to express life.

Amazing Artists: An Inspiration

I wonder what it is inside of us that calls us to be more than we really are. Wherever this calling comes from it is what lead me to start Intrinsic Expression. It’s been almost three years now, I am surprised I have stayed afloat so long with the art scene being such a tough one yet such an open one. The scene still has not changed. But I find myself trying to be different…the one that no one has discovered is discovering others.

I’ve met so many amazing artists of all kinds and it’s here I come to thank all of you and mention the fact that each person I have met, all those I have interviewed have that same peculiar unknown about them There’s just something different and they know it, which is why they express themselves through their own medium.

This is what I want to continue to do, shed light on all of those that have that unknown. Well, I hope i meet more artists this week and 2008…I expect big things, a new website for everyone ten times better, I hate the current site now that I know what it is going to look like very soon. It’s been designed by me Gene Marie and inspired by Alexander K. Stubbs and Jacob Boyd and expressed using all of the artists on the site! Thank you all for sticking by my side and adding to Intrinsic Expression!

I am in need of help, so if you are interested in helping this organization feel free to email me at gene@intrinsicexpression.com. We are running low on funds, sorry to mention the f word but if you have any great ideas to fund 2008 hit me up as i said previously!

Well we’re also on facebook now add us using the email admin@intrinsicexpression.com! Take care! All of you part of the Intrinsic Family, all of your art, music, writings, photos, I love you and your passions.
